Shakespeare in Shorts

Our latest animation series Shakespeare in Shorts is now live on BBC Bitesize!

We’re really proud to be part of the celebrations of the life and work of William Shakespeare 400 years after his death.

We’ve worked with Leeds based musicians from The Firm, to create unique musical, mini-versions of 6 of Shakespeare’s fabulous plays.

Their composers have come up with some really catchy rap and hip hop inspired tunes.

Advisors Susanna Meese (storyteller) and John Chapman (teacher and actor) helped to condense the plot of the plays from 3 hours, to just 3 minutes each. Not an easy job!

The team at The Firm turned these into lively and fun lyrics and voiced them in their own awesome style!

Our own Animation Director Zane Whittingham then came up with ways to tell the story, aided by our capable team, Ryan Jones, Laura Tattersfield, Julia Young, Phil Jeffery, Luke Sault and Tamara Webster.

Producer Kath Shackleton was at the helm, working with Zoe Knights and Sandra Budin in BBC Learning and Executive Producer Lisa Percy.

Thankyou to Creative Skillset who gave us funding to take on some new animators.

We hope you enjoy watching our animations – we’ve so enjoyed making them!
