Child Refugee Animation for CBBC Newsround“Ruth’s Story” Animation for CBBC’s Newsround, tells the story of a brave young Eritrean girl.

Newsround staff changed her name, and voiced this with an actor to protect the girl’s identity.

Our animation tells the story of a young woman who escaped violence in Eritrea, her perilous journey walking across Africa, the conditions she endured to get to Europe and how she finally came to Britain.

This was broadcast on Children’s BBC Newsround on Friday 8th July 2016 and on BBC Breakfast on Saturday 9th July 2016

This has been watched online over a million times since first broadcast and has achieved a record number of shares online on the CBBC Facebook page.

Newsround is a news programme made especially for 6 – 12 year old children. We made this programme with the help of their lovely presenter Hayley Hassall, who interviewed the girl, and has worked closely with us to uncover the essence of the story.

This has been nominated for a Royal Television Society Yorkshire Best Use of Animation Award 2017.

It was also nominated for a Sandford St Martins Children’s Award in 2017.
