TWO Royal Television Society Yorkshire Nominations

Shakespeare in Shorts, our project with The Firm and BBC Learning was up for TWO Royal Television Society Yorkshire Award nominations!

The animation was up for the Animation and/or Visual Effects award, and the music had its own nomination in the Excellence in Post Production category.

This was in recognition of our short films bringing Shakespeare to life for young audiences through hip-hop inspired musical animation.

Many thanks to all of the team involved in a very busy production!

Here’s a taste …

We had a lovely evening with the great and the good in Yorkshire’s booming television Industry in Leeds’ fabulous Royal Armouries on the 24th June.

Leeds Royal Armouries

The Royal Television Society is a prestigeous national educational charity which promotes the art and science of television.

Nominations for the Yorkshire Awards included some of our very favourite shows of this year, including the utterly exciting dramas Happy ValleyThe Last Panthers and This is England ’90 (of which we’re HUGE fans!)

Then there’s the fascinating Secret History of London’s Lost Graveyard plus two powerful and incredibly moving series Body Donors and The Gift of Life plus the very funny kid’s show Hank Zipzer which was filmed locally (with friends in the cast!) and lots more.

It was lovely to see local Made in Leeds TV and ITV Calendar News teams again and the gorgeous guys from Emmerdale plus the amazing documentary team at True North, Daisybeck Productions plus digital agency Rocket and reflect on everyone’s prolific output this year.

In both of our categories we are up against such different productions Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and Vista’s promotion for the Institute of Imagination  plus India’s Frontier Railways – being a judge must be really tough.

Dr. Fiona Thompson, Chair of the RTS Yorkshire Centre said: “We’re a region proud of its television industry – and for good reason. Following a record breaking number of entries this year, the RTS judges have put together a shortlist of nominations of the highest quality which reflect an incredible year of television for Yorkshire.”

So once more, looking forward to a great night in star studded and inspirational company.

Full list of winners here – congratulations to all the nominees!

Last year we won two awards for Children of the Holocaust made with the Holocaust Survivors Friendship Association.
