Our Spooky Sport Films have been shortlisted for Best Use of Animation at the Big Chip Awards.

We’re really delighted to be on the list alongside Mi and Kilogramme and judged by the top brass of the north’s digital media world.

We’ve tried to combine our comedy, kids and documentary stuff into less than two minutes – a tight squeeze.

Hope it gives you a good flavour of what we can do, and a sense that we are building for bigger and better.

Exciting news – Zane’s been chosen as one of 6 animators from across the country to be part of an exciting new scheme from Animate Projects at the Jerwood Space in London.

“Test Flight” is a professional development programme supporting animators in developing new scripts for experimental animated films, with writer Tony White.

Zane said “I’m delighted to have been selected for this programme. I’m really looking forward to taking some time out to explore new ideas with other animators.”

Jazzimation

We had the great pleasure of working in our local community in October 2012 with the wonderful Marsden Jazz Festival, funded by Arts Council England

We hosted a free screening of abstract animation (and some fun cartoons) made with jazz

We ran workshops in 5 local schools, where each group animated to a track from a phenomenal jazz festival artist

We put these in shop windows around the village on flat screen tvs and projected them large at night on the side of main festival venue Marsden Mechanics

We also ran family workshops during the festival too

A fantastic opportunity and a very busy weekend!

So many people helped out – big thanks to Taru Sinclair, Lisa Kendrick, Matthew Holmes, Lisa Mather, Ian Medley, Broadbents TVs, Marsden Socialist Club, Standedge Visitor Centre, Marsden Mechanics Institute, SB Homes, Danielle and Michael, Marsden Infants School, Marsden Junior School, Golcar Junior School, Spring Grove Juniors and Moor End Academy and all of the shop owners who got involved

The Girl with the World in Her Hair

Been meaning to put this one on our site for ages – made this a long time ago but still enjoy it. Wanted to show the animation we can make mixed in with live action – as we’d LOVE to do more of this.

This was under our old company name Zoom Animation but animated by our own Zane Whittingham and Rozi Fuller and made with the lovely Debbie Howard from Big Buddha Films. This was made on a zero budget and we’ve all developed new skills since it was made – but we still like the charm of the story and the way that the animation works.

Jasmine is an extraordinary girl with the most amazing curly hair. But having so many curls isn’t always easy.

Using real footage cleverly woven with animation, this is a charming tale of a young girl’s efforts to feel good about her exceptional crowning glory, and meet some of the characters that may have been hiding in there!

It’s done rather well at festivals – here’s where it’s been seen.
