Big Chip Award Nomination

We are proud to have been nominated for one of our favourite projects with ultra lovely people!

A Big Chip Award Nomination for Best Use of Animation.

Big Chip Awards 2016

We had a lovely evening in Manchester’s beautiful Midland Hotel.

Big Chip is the UK’s longest running digital industry awards and the biggest outside London. It has an unrivalled reputation for judging consistency and integrity. Run by and for the digital industry – not for profit – the Big Chip Awards are for all things digital in the north of England. Celebrating Digital Excellence.

Here’s the Shortlist – we are proud to be in such uber-talented and successful company.

Here’s the full list of winners – congratulations everyone!

Big Chip Winners 2016

Big Chip is run by trade association, Manchester Digital working with partners including Digital Union  in the North East and Creative Sheffield.

So – what have we been nominated for? Well, we made a promotional film with a difference for a financial management company over in Barnsley. Here’s Big Questions, Here is a Man …

This was part of a programme run by the fabulous Tracey Johnson and her team at Enterprising Barnsley who were getting companies to engage in new ways with their customers through digital animation.

We were partnered with the inspirational Lifetime Financial Management who help people review their goals in life and to align and plan their finances to help them to achieve their dreams – such great guys, who do business with real integrity.  A few words from their Director William Bottomley on why they chose animation

Lifetime FM Bill Bottomley and Andrew Lodge

We then approached the broadcaster and poet Ian McMillan, who brought his creative brain to the task of writing and his dulcet tones to the soundtrack.  You may have seen him presenting on BBC’s The One Show, CountryFile or heard his fantastic BBC Radio 3 Show The Verb.

Ian McMillan

Ian’s beautifully spoken poem was then given some Fettle magic by animation Director Zane Whittingham, ably assisted by animator Ryan Jones and summer intern Nina Noon.  They brought the main character “Guido” (latin for “Life” – a mascot for Lifetime FM) to life with his family, and done what animation does best, express the unspoken, get inside people’s thoughts, hopes and dreams and helps people who are looking for answers …

Final polish came in music composed by Matthew Oglesby

The Manchester Digital guys sure do know how to throw a party – thanks everyone for a great night!
